The Museum of Brewing
Once a year all the pubs in our area, Burton & South Derbyshire Branch, are judged that they may be awarded prestigious CAMRA awards, Branch Pub & Country Pub of the Year have this year been awarded to two very worthy pubs. We will also announce here any other awards for our area.

Branch Pub of the Year

This year The Bridge Inn, Bridge Street, Burton on Trent has been awarded Branch Pub of the Year 2006.

A worthy winner, well worth a visit when in town. Kevin and Jan always give a warm and friendly welcome, assisted by equally friendly staff. It's always a pleasure to call in for a pint or two, then maybe three, a game of skittles in the alley upstairs, an excellent way to pass a few hours or You may just want to relax in the no smoking room and sit watching the open log fire. You won't find a juke-box either it's just not required, great conversation with friendly customers is the order of the day. The Bridge Inn always has a great range of award winning real ales on tap.

The Bridge Inn has been the flagship of Brewery for many, many years. It's a really great pub with lots of character and were proud to say its in our branch. "Cheers".

May Arthur B&SD CAMRA Chair.

Branch Country Pub of the Year

This years winner was The Colvile Arms, Lullington, nr Swadlincote.

Winner of Country Pub of the Year 2005, we had great pleasure in presenting this award for 2006. Set in the beautiful South Derbyshire village of Lullington, an award winner in the Britain-in-Bloom competition, the Colvile Arms is typical country pub. Ian and Sandra make everyone welcome, it's a very cosy pub having a bar with high backed settles and a comfortable lounge which leads out to a bowling green and garden. A real countryside gem.

Marstons Pedigree and a guest ale are always served in tip top condition. A pub to realy seek out. Several village cricket teams use the pub along with the local farming community, making it the hub of the village. Friendly banter is always welcome here. So if you fancy a visit and you need directions, give May our branch chair a ring who will be more than happy to help you.

Other Awards

White Shield won the Gold award for best bottled beer at the Great British Beer Festival held at Earls Court in August of this year. Well done and best wishes to Steve and Joe on winning this award.
