| National Winter Ales Festival comes to Burton |

| CAMRA, the
Campaign for Real Ale, have announced that the 2003 National Winter Ales
Festival will be held in Burton for the first time ever!
The festival's lucky venue is the Burton Town Hall in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire and will run from Thursday 23rd- Saturday 25th Janaury 2003. The festival will have approximately 65 different beers for people to try plus ciders, country wines and bottled beers. There will also be evening entertainment in the main hall. |
| National Winter Beer of
Britain Champion The National Winter Beer of Britain competition will be
held on Thursday 23rd January. It will be judged in a closed session and
the results will be announced to the media in the afternoon. Last year's
winner Wye Valley's Dorothy Goodbody's Wholesome Stout will be hoping to
retain their crown! Richard Perry, Festival Chairman said: "We are delighted to hear that this year's National Winter Ales Festival has moved to Burton - the home of brewing. The branch will call upon the experience of 30 previous Summer & Winter beer festivals to ensure that this event is nothing short of a resounding success." Mr Perry continued: "The festival is not only open to experienced real ale drinkers - we would love to see both men and women who have never tried the delights of real ale before and find out what they have been missing out on! All of our staff will be on hand to give you advice of which beers to try!"
